Brenda Carroll, MBA, CPA, CIA, CFE, FCPA, CICA – Engagement Partner
Brenda Carroll graduated from Augusta University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master of Business Administration. Brenda has over 25 years of experience in government management and auditing and keeps her skill set sharp by completing the yearly education requirements to perform both government and single audits. She has been a member of the audit team with The Baird Audit Group for the past 18 years. In this time, she started as an audit manager and worked her way up the ladder to become a partner. As the Onsite Audit Partner, she supervises internal control testing and compliance, as well as meeting reporting deadlines for her clients. When she’s not living the #auditlife, she can be found boating and beaching with her husband or quilting and sewing with her sisters. A true Augustan, she gives back to the community through her volunteer work for the Jud C. Hickey Center for Alzheimer’s Care, Rotary Club, and many other charities in the area.
Jason Lawhorn, CPA, MAcc, CGMA, CITP - Audit Partner
Marketplace longevity hinges on the ability to reinvent one’s self. Jason Lawhorn embraces change and strives to soar into the “cloud.” The power of integrated software caught his eye and he recognized that by investing wisely in this technology, a higher level of accounting could be accessible for the small business owner. Just out of high school, Jason was employed by his father’s accounting firm. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Master of Accountancy, with a focus in technology systems. Although he may be young, he has over 25 years of public accounting experience, with 10 of those being in management. In 2011, Jason took the position of President and CEO of Lawhorn CPA Group, adding to his repertoire of experience. Jason likes to temper his workload with travel, and together these two facets of his life tend to occur in a ratio of 1:27. When that routine gets tiring, he simply takes a much needed vacation. Affectionately known as “Buddy Cracker,” his culinary skills often find him the head cook at any party. In fact, his exquisite blackberry-toe jam makes him a community jelly role model. He also loves fly-fishing, songwriting, playing his guitar, and day dreaming when he isn’t spending quality time with his wife, Ashleigh Lawhorn, or one of his brood, Jeremy, Jacob, Olivia, Zoe, or Alex.
